It cost more to execute a prisoner than keep him/her in prison for life? Just think that each year, about 253 million dollars coming from your pocket and the people in U.S. I believe that the death penalty should be abolish. Not only is it a cruel tactic but it makes everyone else pay for it!
United State, Iraq, and China are one of the few remainding countries that stilluses and support the capital punish to more than 137 countries nation wide. According to a report in the New Jersey Policy Perspective “death penalty has cost taxpayers $253 million dollars since 1938, a figure that is over and above the cost that would have been inccured had the state utilizeda sentences oflife without parole instead of death.”
The death penalty is not really fair because it is applied depending on the case and the people. Sometimes murderer who murders fifty people doesn’t get the death penalty while someone else murders one do. Does this sound right or fair at all? This is also when race play a lot in. If you were a certain race, it can either help you or not. The death penalty is pretty much like a lethal lottery,” of 22,000 homicides committed every year approximately 150 people are sentenced to death.
Even though victim or family of the victims will think they feel much better after the murder death, but their wounds will still continue. To have the murder execute is just the same doing like he/she did to the victim. It’s the same result all over, someone murder someone then you kill them. There is just no good moral behind all of this. There is absolutely another option to the death penalty, life without parole. With the sentence, life without parole, the murders has the chance to correct their mistake and becomes a better person.
Death isn’t the only option! Life without parole can be a much better choice for one’s family, the murderer, and everyone else. The death penalty is only a cruel way to show no mercy and that’s not the way we want to show the world what we are about. The death penalty is only killing more people and should be abolish because of it.
